The latest addition to the parks system, and one of my all time favorites is the Cross Kirkland Corridor. The trail has taken the place of the railroad tracks that used to service the dinner train. Now it is several miles of crushed gravel, which makes it ideal for walking, running and bike riding. If you have small children, it’s a great place to ride. The trail is relatively flat and it’s much calmer than the Sammamish River trail, which has bikers going by at 25 miles an hour.

I’m constantly amazed at how peaceful and quiet it feels for being right in the heart of Kirkland. The wonderful thing is that it gets used. Especially on sunny days. So the next time you are up for exploring, hit the trail, you never know what you might find. For a while, they had an abandoned pick up truck on the side. The truck is gone now, but there are still many treasures to be found on the trail. To find out more about it, click here.

Enjoy!
