Bellevue’s art scene has so much to offer—there seems to be a little bit of everything, no matter what your taste and style are. Below, you can find an overview of some great art-focused events and establishments to get you started!
VISUAL ARTS
The Bellevue Arts Museum is a must-visit spot for beginning your Bellevue arts journey! In addition to rotating exhibits that ensure there’s always something new to see, this dynamic museum also offers a wide range of lectures, talks, tours, workshops, kids activities, and much more. Also, each summer the Bellevue Arts Museum hosts the largest arts and crafts festival in the Northwest, the BAM ARTSfair. This incredible gathering features 300+ artists, plus performances, exhibitions, a KIDSfair, food trucks, and more. In 2017, the fair takes place the weekend of July 28-30—mark your calendars!
That same weekend, stop by The Bellevue Festival of the Arts! This arts & craft fair features 200 artisans and musicians from our region, plus some great live performances and food vendors. The 6th Street Fair is also in full swing that last weekend of July—head to Downtown Bellevue to peruse the shops of over 100 artists, check out the Creation Station (a great space for kids to create unique projects from recycled items), and much more.
For a classic art gallery experience, the Hall Spassov Gallery is another fabulous spot to check out. Exhibits change monthly, and you can view hundreds of paintings and several sculptures.
PERFORMANCE & MUSIC
The Theatre at Meydenbauer Center is a great place to start if you’re interested in catching some live performances. In the upcoming months, performances include Bollywood dancing, music from the Sammamish Symphony Orchestra, the International Ballet Theatre, a performance from the City Opera Ballet, and much more. Another great opportunity to see live theater awaits at the Bellevue Youth Theater—support the next generation of performers! Everyone who auditions gets a role, giving everyone who is interested the opportunity to be a part of the theater.
There are also a couple of annual music festivals that take place in Bellevue each year, one being the Wintergrass Music Festival. Performances and workshops are in the mix at this gathering that takes place each February. The Bellevue Jazz & Blues Festival is another great annual event—each June, enjoy music from national and regional artists!
