I’ve been attending the Bellevue Festival Of The Arts for several years with my family which made today’s show especially fun. We chatted with Fair Coordinator, Ann Sutherland about how the festival got started over 30 years ago, it’s mission of giving back, and the amazing artists that travel from all over. Interested in Silver Smithing, Ann was asked by a friend to help with the festival and she’s been loving it for over 20 years.

The Bellevue Festival Of Arts is one of three separate fairs in Bellevue, and started as an alternative fair for the overflow of artists that wanted to participate. You can spend the entire three days enjoying all three fairs, which include The Bellevue ARTSfair (BAM) and the 6th Street Fair .

As with any large event, there are months of preparation that go into the 3 day festival. Starting in January Ann and her team begin taking applications from hundreds of artists trying to secure a spot in the popular fair. From there 170 artists are selected to participate in the event. Some top favorites that have been with the show since it started are Jack and AJ Farrel, creating unique painted tiles shown in homes, restaurants, and even some palaces. Another repeat artist is local sculpter, Gunter Reimnitz with Abraxas Crow Studio in Port Townsend.

The Bellevue Festival Of The Arts is a fun event for the whole family! You’ll love the live music, 100’s of food vendors and two years ago in the food court they added Aubrey’s Corner a fun kids pop up tent letting kids get creative from painting little flags, to creating unique collages. You can also inquire about kids art programs with Pratt Art Institute.
